Belive in yourself

A bird sitting on a tree is never afraid
of the branch breaking because her trust is not in the branch,
but in her own wings to fly...

Wednesday

You're there in the dark of the night..
While holding the sun and it's light...
Through the triumphs and trials alike
There's no one beside you...
Your voice calls the stars by their names..
You whisper them all to their place...
To testify of your wonder and praise..
Both now and forever...

Friday

Driven to your dreams..

Elllooooo!! It's been awhile!!

LOL i looked at my last post and WOOOWWW did it sound depressing!! I should explain it abit actually... Last yr October, i started back at uni, my final year of studies and this was one of my biggest fears because i have never done it before... for 5 years, i have feared this moment in my life because in my degree, 3rd year is the only year that actually counts towards what up end up with as your final grade... I have always been an AIM HIGH or don't do it at all sort of person.. If i know i cannot achieve something to the best because i am not ready or prepared for it, then i would rather not begin and feel like a failure.. yep, typical perfectionist!! :/

So in October 2013, i had just finished backpacking Asia and i had to start writing my dissertation... Academic writing is not something i am naturally good at because i am dyslexic, my thoughts aren't easily translated onto paper if i can't write the way i think. Like it would take me a whole paragraph or two to get my point across but it should have only taken 1 or 2 sentences. I was pretty down and depressed about this piece of writing because  i had decided to choose a subject i have a passion for- homelessness.. but as a design project and area to write about, it is so incredibly complex and challenging that my tutor told me that i have probably picked one of the hardest things to do.. Which obviously made me panic and worry.. :( I handed in my draft late and when i did hand it in, she was actually concerned... My problem was that i got too emotionally attached to the homeless, i wasn't being objective enough.. I remember feeling like quitting, giving up, pushing people away and i even fell out with my best friend because i didn't need another person telling me why i handed my work late when i already felt like crap!

However i didn't give up, i had minimal support from my mentor and my sister and managed to write a very good dissertation. Surprisingly, i got an A- for it! :D probably my proudest achievement in academia.. since i consider writing my biggest flaw!

Along with the essay, i had to start the design project at the same time, my product had to answer my hypothesis form my dissertation so again- it was a product designed for the homeless.. fast forward to February 2014 for me... :p This was also the most difficult project i have ever done in my life. I had to learn skills i never had before and i was told that it was nearly impossible and unlikely that i could finish this project in a well finished and complete final product... Sweat and tears and alot of panic and all-nighters later, i handed in, presented my work and i ended up also getting an amazing grade for that project!! I was so surprised and unbelievably HAPPPYYYY!!!

I now an at the last leg of my degree.. the client project.. I have about a month and a half left to finish it... and just looking back at my journey- the highs and the ridiculous amount of lows... it does give me some confidence that i can overcome my struggles now with my current work.. I have realllly struggled with this one because its not only the work, but the people around me that has affected how i have performed... :( I'm the kinda of person who doesn't like to be hated on or upset people and not care.. i care abit too much... and one of my friends at uni was envious of my grades that he showed it and it bugged me.. made me lose motivation to go into class, and avoid talking to people incase i got more haters.. I'm kinda over it now.. as i did have 1 good friend who has been supportive in my class.. and i think you either don't need anyone to do that and be even more driven on your own goals, or just that one person who believes in you is enough :)

People do describe me as/get the impression that i am very driven and I've got thing under control.. and it is flattering but definitely not always the case... I have terrible management skills, I'm also pretty unreliable and flaky!! But i can be very very driven... I feel like i am more so now than i was 3 hours ago just because i am reflecting back onto my original purpose for doing it and what it can lead to contributing towards my dreams..  Maybe take a moment to pause and think about your dreams.. your purpose and the times you struggled like i did, but got back up and exceeded everyone's expectations.

'Nothing you do is impossible...The very word itself tells you that "I'm-Possible"

I'm going to donate blood!

 sharing is caring right?? :)
So my awesome friend Chris Espin convinced me to go donate a pint or so of my blood... and honestly, i have mulling over it for months and he was gonna do it regardless but he finally convinced me to do it with him!! I'm really scared lol!! Because i'm really scared of needles and i think i might feel weak and pass out but i wanna do this to help others... I mean maybe i can help save lives this way... But i'm planning on doing it after i've finished using my brain for the term.. so next friday is last day of term...i will go donate that day!! i'm really scared but God give me strength and bravery ... would be my first time doing it..and hopefully i'll get over it and do it more regularly... but the thought still makes me dizzy lol!!!

Monday

Forgiveness

Have you ever not wanted to forgive someone because you judge them for what they have done or have done to you? I'm pretty sure many of us have been down that road before where to forgive is just too difficult because we just can't let it go... But hear me out, lemme let you in on this...

those who are forgive much, love much... those who are forgiven little..love little...

What does that mean exactly... well its new to me too actually! Last sunday, i learnt the meaning of just that!! Picture this..

A guy owed £500 to a merchant. Another guy owed £5 to him. both were in a position where they cannot afford to pay him back. So the kind merchant cancelled the debt they owed, cleaning the slate for them. Now... who do you think was more grateful for this act of kindness? yeah.. it would probably be the guy with the bigger debt of £500 right...You understanding me yet..?? no?? :p listen...

People who do us wrong... sometimes we think they don't deserve our forgiveness... they just don't deserve to feel relieved of that grudge we hold against them... maybe they hurt you bad..maybe they wronged someone you know... for what ever the reason... because their debt to you is greater than of someone whos done less...if you forgave them, their gratefulness is greater..their love will flourish...

To forgive someone is a gift, it can really stir a person inside, it not only gives them rest, but also..it gives you rest...holding a grudge isn't easy right? i know that one for sure!!!!!

I think the reason why i'm writing this post today is because i've been reflecting upon my past and how there are still a couple of people that i have not yet forgiven for the wrongs they did to me... i firgured this much.. 'he/she wouldn't learn from his/her mistakes if i forgave them' they can only know the greatness of my hurt if they never recieve my forgiveness...how do you forgive when your heart isn't quite there yet.??..

Now its been a long time since these wrongs guys..and i don't even think much of it now... but i am aware..that my grudge still haunts them..its still is uncomfortable to live with.. and i think i've been thinking about it in the wrong way... Those with greater debts of wrong..learns from and has a higher sense of gratitude than those who did little to wrong me and gets forgiven...

Its easy to forgive someone of a white lie, but harder to forgive someone whos lied for a year about everything right??...but out of the two who seek forgiveness...the one who hurt you the most would recieve the greatest amount of gratitude and lesson from their mistakes...

It really twisted the way i think when i learnt this...still tryna get my head around it to be honest!! I'm putting it out there..maybe it wil stir you to forgive someone whos hurt you today...

University

it's about 2 weeks exactly that I'm studying at uni and yep I've kept it on the D low because I wasn't sure I'd successfully get in.. not that anyone is as happy as I am but I got in to a pretty prestigious institution and I'm so thankful to God for answering my prayers one after another!! :)

So what's it like being in 'school' again? probably the most awesome feeling ever!! uno I've studied most of my life.. and most of it was never for me..like I probably picked subjects I was good at but did I really wanna do it? being Asian, I did it for my parents, I felt like I owed them a good life and was purely motivated to please them with my A*'s and distinctions..but there was no satisfaction in the end...I mean I think I was brought up pretty well but honestly, I say 'screw to that way of thinking!' I don't know, I realized that after getting those top grades, I'd get put down for other things I wasn't good at I.e languages-I dropped out of Chinese school age 16 because never using the language and having to memorize the characters and do my GCSEs was too much for my slow brain to process!! I'm not saying if u live to serve your parents, that's a bad thing, but in my opinion, doing studies for your own ambition to further bigger and more global ambitions is probably more sustainable that the desperate hope of love and recognition from your folks!!

I see it this way... I've been pretty good and skilled in a lot of things I have learnt and experienced...however I think I'm pretty good at design and I haven't utilised my skills in this area to the potential it can grow...I had to step out of the continuous patterns in my life to really know what I want to do...so here I am! late night's at the library, not eating because I'm too busy, coffees after coffees and just that much more busier than usual! I have to say, first 2weeks have been pretty intensive! like I wanna do the activities n fun stuff but I've had no time! I've met some pretty awesome people tho..they make me laughhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!! lol! so wish me luck.. let the good times roll..I'll keep y'all posted!

If i had my life to live over...

"Of course, you can’t unfry an egg, but there is no law against thinking about it..

If I had my life to live over, I would try to make more mistakes.
I would relax. I know of very few things that I would take seriously.
I would go more places. I would climb more mountains and swim more rivers.
I would eat more ice cream and less bran.
I would have more actual troubles and fewer imaginary troubles.
You see, I have been one of those fellows who live prudently and sanely, hour after hour, day after day.
Oh, I have had my moments. But if I had it to do over again, I would have more of them – a lot more.
I never go anywhere without a thermometer, a gargle, a raincoat and a parachute.
If I had it to do over, I would travel lighter.
If I had my life to live over, I would pay less attention to people telling us we must learn Latin or History; otherwise we will be disgraced and ruined and flunked and failed.
I would seek out more teachers who inspire relaxation and fun.
If I had my life to live over, I would start barefooted a little earlier in the spring and stay that way a little later in the fall.
I would shoot more paper wads at my teachers.
I would keep later hours.
I’d have more sweethearts.
I would go to more circuses.
I would be carefree as long as I could, or at least until I got some care- instead of having my cares in advance.

I doubt, however, that I’ll do much damage with my creed.
The opposition is too strong.
There are too many serious people trying to get everybody else to be too darned serious.."

Scarf braid hair

I got alot of compliments about how i did my hair in the last couple of days so i thought i'd share how i did it because it was soooooo simple yet everyone kept asking how i did it! I'm really NOT a trend setter guys, i just wear whatever i feel comfortable in.. you just get a silk scarf ( i have loads of them because i just love collecting printed scarves whenever i see a beautiful one, i buy them from different countries to topshop and market stalls!)  knot it on to your hair and then just braid it into your hair as you would a normal braid! secure with a hairband and ur good to go! sound like really retarded instructions right? because it was that easy!
My hair has gotten really long so its easy to do if you have alot of length to work with..but if you don't, wrap it like a alice band first and then braid it in so the scarf has shorter ends! I sound like one of those youtube beauty gurus don't i? lol!! An easy hairdo thats acceptably 'hippy' in spring/summer! :p Hope this was useful dolliez! ( sorry for the poor quality pictures, my mac webcam has had its hey dayz and is ageing gracefully :p ) xxx

Wednesday

Me...an example?

I've been some sort of mentor to 2 of my co workers as of recently... One has left but insisted we stay friends outside of work and one i see about once a week... Its weird but they both look to me for guidance and help in their lives... in what way? well alot of people have tried to understand why  fasted for 50 days... why i don't entertain in gossip... why im reading scripture on my lunch breaks... why im not interested in male attention or why im just boring and alil not so 'normal' in their eyes... lol! Well.. they might think ima loser but i think im awesome haha!! :p
So one of my co workers has confided in me about the signs and the messages he has been getting to change his ways and come back into the fathers arms... but it has been difficult... he shared of his internal battles with me... he said to me today " i want to be more like you..." i was quite happy that in some way, i've quietly set an example of Christ's light and somehow have drawn him closer to others who want to know him the way i do... I said to him " I've not tried to change or force myself to be someone else... i've put my full trust and life in his hands.. what you see in me.. who you want to be more like isn't me... its just the reflection of Christ in me.." I shared my trials and weakest moments in my life when i made my decision to give my life to God with him to help him understand it wasn't smooth sailings for me either... that who i am now is still a constant process of Christ in me clarifying who i'm meant to be...more like him...

I'm sharing this because i'm kinda scared.. i don't know how to guide others when i've needed so much help from others to get me here in the first place... What i feel is that i'm not perfect... The responsibility of ones growth in faith is in his own will to do so...Is it a responsibility i can handle? what if i fall and they fall with me? I have see the positive impacts i've had on the people i am surrounded by daily but what do i do next if they want more??? I'm still so new to this, i'm kinda just worried that in my examples...and my efforts to help that i'm not strong enough to have others lean on me... I mean about a year n a half ago i was just as lost and confused in life as they are now...

Thinking about it now... i'm just being selfish for thinking about not lending my hand when they wanna experience what i have... It's the most amazing gift i've ever recieved... unconditional love and someone that never gives up or lets go of me...

I don't like to force or impose my beliefs onto anyone because of my own experience with people who have tried to do that to me... i think its so important that people come to faith by freewill and with a childlike faith.. like i did... I'm gonna pray on it and give it my all.. if it is needed...

(As i mentioned before, i know my posts have been quite god reflected recently... i aint bible bashing.. its mainly the chapter in my life right now :) i aint ashamed haterz!!! :p

Just a quiet mind note i wanted to share... Love Snow x

Thursday

I took in a stranger...

So here alil story i wasn't gonna share but a friend suggested i should share it on my blog.. It might be an inspiration... It might not, some might think i took a risk and i shouldn't tell others about it (guess you gotta trust your gut instincts guys and dolliez) .. but all i can say is this is me, everyone does things to their own feelings in their heart.. this was mines...

A stranger is defined as someone i don't know more than a conversation in less than an hour... Last sunday, i had just finished attending my 2nd church service for the day, i went to socialise with a friend after where other people from church hung out for abit before going home... and i met a tiny girl with her life in her backpack and a huge ass suitcase to go with it... she just wondered into the service by accident and ended up being invited to socialise by my friend funny enough... Shes a complete stranger to London, shes a 22 yr old Korean girl travelling alone for a few weeks in europe and she told me she was flying back to Seoul this evening..being in London for just 4 days, she was tired... I got to know her story abit but then she had to leave to catch her train to heathrow airport so we all said our goodbyes and wished her a safe journey home...

As i walked back to my bike to cycle home, me and my friend bumped into her outside the train station looking frazzled because she had got the information wrong and had missed her flight for the night... she needed to stay another night and i guess my heart went out to her.. i though she was very brave to travel all alone to a strange part of the world ( i asked her if she had seen the movie TAKEN lol..because that movie made me cautious to go solo in my travels..and she did see it aswell, thats why she was scared in Paris lol!) and in the end, i offered her a place to stay with me for her last night... All the others around lived very far from central London and i only lived 10mins away... so i told her i'd cycle home, get my car and drive back to pick her up..i did exactly that and just looked after her so she would know that she is safe with me...
(Shes super shy so she'd kill me if she knew i put up this pic, but i said the same if u showed my pic to anyone aswell so we are even! :p)

I've never actually done something like this before but i knew i wanted to help and trusted God that i was doing the right thing... I really enjoyed getting to know her alittle better whiles i served up some good ol vietnamese food for her whiles i mustered whatever that i could that was vegan for myself, i was starvingggg loool!! After a shower and a good nights rest, i gave her a fresh pair of socks and offered my trainers (because hers were so battered :s but she didn't take it) we went out to have breakfast in starbuck ( i couldn't eat any of the cakes she bought :'( ) before dropping her to the station for her journey home... I think i made a new lil sister in christ friend from Korean... Anyways i do wish the best for her and i just wanted her to have at least one genuine experience that didn't leave her losing faith in humanity and fellowship :)

I know exactly how it feels to have lost everything important in your life.. to feel betrayed, lost and alone in this world... but i also know that you don't need alot to be happy... Like i've said before, i've learnt to live with very little through my past experiences and i've experiences real compassion by others towards me... I've been saved and i am loved by God so if i can put others before myself, i'm not really putting myself 2nd place either... He never comes 2nd for putting other people 1st...I will never come 2nd for putting others 1st..because I put you first Jesus...I love you..

Tuesday

you are me and i am you...

I'm not just greatful for finding Love in God... I am no longer lost nor do i feel my life is empty... What i share here are my mind notes... I've been through the highs and the lows with all of you because you are me and i am you... we are all apart of one... Sounds weird or complicated?? lol, i'm not gonna try to explain that statement right now but it is oh so true!! :)

I don't know the reasons why anything or everything happens in this world.. only God knows... but because i don't know, i can only do my part in helping the good of others through myself first... Gandi famous said " Be the change you want to see in the world" and before i used to see that as just setting an example of Love and light for others to see and feel... but in actualalty (is that a word?!), it means so much more than just that!! My mind has just been blown by the new grace and inspiration that has come into my life recently... I've got so much to share but as it stands... It's down to the individual to come seek for what i have found first... and that isn't in reference to just finding God.. It is... so much more than that... Trust that in me.. everyone i have ever known or come across is going to quietly experience..gifts...

Don't think about what i just said, just read and accept and quietly become inspired... I was... :)

I Love You..

I'm Sorry..

Please Forgive me..

I Thank You..

I really love the person i have grown into over the years...This is why i stress that its possible in everyone... Don't try to define who you are or what you put 1st in your life etc... We are our own biggest examples of changes within ourselves... Even if your life experiences have clouded you be be a limited version of yourself...Take the good lessons in life and clean/clear the bad ones so that they don't hold you back... When you feel a void or experience loneliness...don't let it eat you up like that... we all have so much more to live for... whether you are conscious of why you feel like that or not...don't make it your identity...i think you have the capacity in you to love the whole world :) so start with yourself ^___^

You can be moulded into a beautiful person from life but still have flaws (we are human after all!) but when you become conscious of these flaws..maybe thats when the road less travelled opens up for you... If you are open to it...  take that journey...

And if all you heard was blah blah blah looool, you aint ready for the snow to melt and the spring to bloom ;)

Love Snow xoxox

Tuesday

New Team Leader!

Hey guys and dolls!! I just wanted to share with you some cool news to me! I'm the newest Team Leader joining the Cafe service in my church! ^_^ lol.. yea probably not that exciting to you guys but kinda big deal to me!! Lemme walk you through..

I used to volunteer as a team member and help out whenever i can.. i have been doing it since the beginning of the yr at least once or twice a month and i did enjoy it because i was (still am) very shy in church and prefered to help out than to have to make conversation with strangers!! >_<

This sunday, the focus was on Moses and how God chose him to be a leader and lead the Israelites out of Egypt and perform miracles using Gods powers. However, moses wasn't sure of himself, he made about 5 excuses not to go or be chosen and well.. it reminded me of myself.. I had be offered the position a week ago but i didn't respond to it because i was not sure i'd be good at it, not sure wether i wanted to have some sort of permanent role in a church or that i would be able to put together a team of people to help me!! But the talk really gave me the push to take the position..God will guide me... I'm trying to be a YESman and not a NOman lol! So far its going great! I have a full team now and i have some great ideas on making cafe service i lead even more awesome! :D

Can i get a thumbs up?!! :D

Make Inner *You* Happy..

Sandy island sunset in Grenada 08
We all get our moments of highs and lows in our lives.. all the time, even if you say you're awesome all the time, sometimes we crash and would hate for everyone else to know about it...

When i feel alittle low, i don't like to tell everyone about it, i don't want people to worry about me, there was always this one line back in 2008 that my bestfriend from uni said to me.. "everyone has problems, and yours shouldn't be more important than anyone elses.." sounds alil harsh but i love him for saying that to me because it make me think of all the worst off things people everywhere in the world are suffering with, why should my problems be bigger than anyone elses?? After that day in Malaysia, i never wanted people to worry about me, feel sorry for me, or make out like my problems are bigger..they really aren't! I picture children in Africa starving and fighting poverty and still smiling and singing because they live the simple and humble life they were given day by day... So you know what i do to make myself happier??
Babysitting newborn Daniyal 2 weeks ago (apparently i'm the 1st person he doesn't cry with!)
1. Well i try to up my good deeds a day...giving my bus seat, helping people carry their prams down the stairs, giving people my time to listen to them and offering the best advice i possibly can are all lil things that make me feel i contribute to my community and am influencing someone out there in the right way...
I went to my childhood park and put on my favourite relax music :)
2. If you feel emotionally upset, listen to music you want to listen to...be it happy or sad, chilled or heavy metal...close your eyes..visualize a memory of peace and really put yourself in the music as if you were reading a book and imagining the whole story...

3. Reading is a great escape too... anything you are interested in, pick up that book even if you're not a reader...I am currently reading a book given to me called "The mystery of the crystal skulls" and i love it so far! :)

4. You do know that i am a person that doesn't spend much money on myself...but making the inner Jeniniooo happy... maybe i will buy something i've always wanted..spend alittle hard earned cash on yourself if u don't already... I recently bought myself a few hoodies from SuperDry...and i don't normally spend that much on myself... i'm a real cheapskate when it comes to clothes... :p and i also bought myself some WeSC headphones!! ( i'll show u guys later, i love them!) and do you know how i KNOW its unusual for me to spend that much money on myself?? *drum roll...* My bank locked my card because they thought someone had stolen it and using it fraudulently!! LOL!! like there is minimal cash movement in my bank statements i tell ya...most goes to rent and essential expenses!!!
:(
5. I have my days when i feel uglyyyyy! we all have alil crash like i said... when you do, try to pamper yourself... take a bath..wash your hair, use all the expensive stuff you have...buy expensive stuff you know your skin will love, put some make up on etc etc etc... I put on a homemade mask, research on new beauty tricks, products, regimes and advice and it really does make you feel better...

5.5. Eat energizing and healthy foods.. makin a super power smoothie, go on a detox and exercise!! everyones knows that happy hormones are released when you are active and nourishing your body with good, wholesome, nutrient dense foods :)
love love loveee.. hey dudes..don't deny it...you love it too!! lol!!
6. Oh and this is the most important one... :p watch your favorite sitcoms ahahaa :D I'm a 'How i met your mother' fan and a 'Sex and the City' fan too!! currently my favorite guilty pleasures... And i am a number one friends fan, but my box set is useless with a laptop what doesn't wanna play dvds... :s need take it to apple to get it fixed :(

ok so i hope this has helped...if it didn't help you, then it certainly helped me..even just writing it down so with my terrible memory at 60- i'll know what i did in my 20's to keep my stress wrinkles at bay and slap on some expensive old lady products n pull out my friends box set :D Oh and i hope you know that when i hit menopause..it will be the end...i have the gift of youth for now... but menopause is my Mr Hyde transformations... observe...
see what i mean \(>_<)"/

LOL!!

good luck and plz leave comments of what you would like me to write next xxx

The invention of an amazing inventor...

Me and my niece being play cowboys

I'm not sure if i ever mentioned this on my blog but i studied product design in university... many reasons why i chose to take on this a my course... to fine tune my skills as an inventor...

I was born with a natural talent for being creative... i was very hands on and arty as a kid and i always dreamed big of doing everything and anything that looked interesting and fun! I loved cooking, and whiles every kid watched channel 1 and 3 after primary school.. i would flick to channel 2 and watch ready steady cook because it appealed to me more than cartoons ( not that id idnt watch cartoons, i loved them too!)

i would also want to paint, draw, become a hairdresser, shoe maker, jewelry designer, tattoo artist, fashion designer, pattern maker, a mechanic, build bikes and fix things ( like my dad!) make furniture for ikea, arcitect, interior designer, graphic designer, illutrator, game designer, animator..stuff like that... I was always indecisive about what i wanted to become...i wanted to do everything!!

Then i thought.. there must be one universal degree that can be applied to all thing involved in those things... an invertor!!

i picked product design because at the time, i figured.. it doesn't matter what i do, if the outcomes shows the improvement and a solution to the problem to the brief, then i would be happy that i can use my skills to make a better world and place for the people that live in it!

If the brief was to improve the lifestyle for someone with arthritis..it could come in the form of packaging ( simple to open and ergonomically designed) in fashion ( ease of putting on and off and wash and eight and comfort) in furniture, in application, in food, in interior spacial design, even down to the material i could create to solve the problem... Doesn't that sound awesome??

Lately i've been thinkin hard about my dreams... i used to want to work to be really sucessful and make loadsa money so my parent can have a good life... but i've realized money does not motivate me... money does not help me pursue happiness...  As much as i want to create and invent something and get rich from it... i would rather continue the paths that show people the side of me that really pushed me in the 1st place... Love...

Dr Nakamats is my inspiration...  Please watch this documentary about him and understand how i have come to see my motivations in life... This guy is my idol...i hope someday i can do great things with myself the way he did for this world :)
