My CNY eve ^_^

OMG it was so fun today!! probably the most fun i've had since i was young!! I didn't expect any family to show up but 1 family did and we shared our pre new years dinner with them.. Man it was a feast!!! There was so much food and we had like 6 lobsters... Wish i took a pic, it was so epic lol! After the dinner, we played loadsa games of Big Two... If you're Viet/Chino i'm sure you must know this card game... but yea, i was taught at  very young age how to play and the rules is whoever wins gets to draw on the losers face!! :D I got to draw loadsa times because i was winning but then again i ended up looking like a Goompa with Think angry eyebrows draw on me, a mustache and a tongue hangin off my bottom lip!! O_o try to picture it!! xD It was so funny, i made my sisters look like a Hitler and a easter bunny!! :D and i got to draw on my auntys face..one big black eye!! :D

We went to a buddist temple just before midnight to cross over to the new year with all the blessings and luck oriental people like cling onto when we celebrate CNY... To be honest, it was a first experience for me... i have never done anything like this before, and i didnt even believe in all the supersticious stuff but i did it for fun because everyone thinks i'm so bad luck that this is the cure to all my problems...so i went with it :) but it really was fun!!!

we were giving a raffle ticket at entrance... people were standing and praying...then they called out the prize numbers... my cousin won one.. i didn't win anything :(..but having said that, i was getting awesome luck instead!! :D We basically got fed and watered very very well there... we had to collect a blessed piece of paper thats suppose to protect me, i got a bag with a mandarin and a bag of rice that said "luck" on it then we had to walk out of the temple to leave the old year and walk in a circle round the whole building touching signs with the luck characters on them... my aunt was stressing that i had to rub myself on them so i literally rubbed them like a lamp!! :D when we finished rubbing the gold characters (there was 18 and we had to rub them all!!O_O) we had to light incense, go back into the temple and ask for blessings for all the individual big statues like buddha and all the other 'Monkey Magic' characters ( i donno their names, i just used to watch the movies as a kid) and then back outside to leave the incense outside with the Mushu guardian dragon thing... then go back in for a red envelope and loads of food as we celebrated!! i even got a Cantaloupe melon!!! :D sorry for no pictures..i'm using a crappy old phone where picture sending is impossible at the moment O_o

Year of the Dragons!!

It's that time of year again.. but its come early this time.. Chinese New Year!!! :D

It's mostly a big deal to the eastern culture because tradition makes it more important than any holiday or birthday/ remembrance days put together!!  Over the years.. it's become a smaller and smaller deal in my family because CNY is about family and new starts and celebrating to together but family feuds happen, cousins move homes further away from each other and then its just reduced to extreme house cleaning and a ridiculous amount of food for the next couple of days... O_O

When i was little they dressed me up in pretty dresses and we went around to family gatherings and played and ate awesome food with my cousins and it was so fun! We'd go to see the lion dances and watch the firecrackers go off, get anything that would make a noise in our hands (those things u throw on the ground that go BANG and drums and windmills with bells) and go crazy! i remember i got lost in chinatown as a 5 yr old and it was so scary!! >_< they had to take me onto stage to call out my brothers name to find me!!

Now its the year of the Dragon.. my half breed year... my birth falls at the end of rabbit year (because cny always comes right after my bday at some point but im born in 88 the dragon year) and the start of dragon year so my parents used to always read my chinese horoscopes twice as both would be relevant to me... I haven't had the best of luck this year so they gonna go all superstitious on me and making me take precautions... O_o hope they don't make me eat extra mandarins to boost my luck energy!! O_o

I haven't been to the Chinatown celebrations in years, i may go this year.. It's celebrated this year in Trafalgar square in London but next weekend 29th Jan..i'll be sure to update the blog if i do!!

Ok so i was bored....and i really do want to take care of this blog and not start something i'll give up...remember i said that was one of my bad habits... I can see myself bloggin slower n less..haha...thats why i decided to juice it up abit..kick myself in the ass to use it abit more... i gave it a slight make over...

It's MY YEAR!! Year of the Rabbit baby!! Yes i'm born in 88 meaning i should be a dragon but my birthday was before CNY so technically on the lunar calender, i was born in 87 as the new yr hadn't started... you could say...I have Dragon's Head and a Rabbit's Ass..i'd have qualities of both zodiac signs..Twice the amount of possibilities when my dad reads my chinese zodiac horoscopes to me!! >_<

So here is a basic text i copied for the people not familar with CNY.. I know i didn't have to but i find t interesting myself...i would love to spend my CNY in asia one yr..it must be awesome!!

"Chinese New Year is the most important festival in Chinese culture. It is celebrated on the new moon of the first month according to the lunar calendar, and is a time for family reunions and scrumptious feasts.

Chinese New Year traditionally lasts from the first day to the 15th day of the New Year (which is Lantern Festival), but the demands of modern life mean that most people don’t get such an extended holiday. Still, the first five days of the New Year are an official holiday in Taiwan, while workers in Mainland China and Singapore get at least 2 or 3 days off.

The Chinese New Year is a chance to leave the problems of the previous year behind. It is important to start the New Year fresh, and this means cleaning up the house and buying new clothes.

Houses are decorated with red paper banners which have auspicious couplets written on them. These are hung around doorways and are intended to bring luck to the household for the coming year.

Red Envelopes

Certain numbers (such as four) are bad luck, so the total amount should not be one of these unlucky numbers. “Four” is a homonym for “death”, so a red envelope should never contain £4, £40, or £400.

Fireworks

Evil spirits are driven away by loud noise, so Chinese New Year is a very loud celebration. Long strings of firecrackers are set off throughout the holiday, and there are many displays of fireworks lighting up the evening skies.

Some countries such as Singapore and Malaysia restrict the use of fireworks, but Taiwan and Mainland China still allow almost unrestricted use of firecrackers and other fireworks.

Chinese Zodiac

The Chinese zodiac cycles every 12 years, and each year is named after an animal. The year of the Rabbit starts on February 3, 2011 and continues to January 22, 2012."

LONDON's CNY is quite boring to me now...i only like the firecrackers...the whole dragon dance and lanterns they put up in china town is nothing compared to what they do in Asia...It's more family time for me really..and cleaning cleaning cleaning to let the old yr out, n the new yr in...O_o thats what mom says!!

Chinese New Year Eve...

It's actually CNY as of 12 midnight... i was suppose to have CNY eve dinner with my family but since i'm on a 'diet' and i had Alpha..i skipped out on it... all this good rich foods like Roast pork, Roast duck, chicken, sea bass, soups, like traditional food..new years cakes.. ahhh its not bothering me that i missed out on it anyways...i know what i'm doing is good for me long term...when i got home from Alpha, i had a bite to eat.. i had some broccoli, kale, seabass and some chinese vermicelli soup... and yea it was nice!! no1 ate the seabass coz they were all stuffed from the other dishes so i had half the fish :D anywhoo...Chinese new year is a big deal to my parents... It's like Christmas to them because that is all they knew of as they grew up in Vietnam.. I'm not gonna assume everyone here knows what goes on in chinese new yr so i'll do a post on the info about it.. it's kinda fun and cool when i was a kid...i got alot of moneyyy!! :D

Me and Gabz Joint Bday karaoke..

So Gabz and i have days apart from our bday, and he organised a lil karoake party this sat for us and our friends... Was at this nice lil vietnamese cafe called Cafe VN..near farringdon stn... It was actually really fun!! My gurl Sabrina came just to see me ( big Love :D) and she jammed with me thee for abit too b4 leavin early to catch her train.. Still.. I can't believe i stayed till the end of it... We were havin a lil team singing competition..and for sound reason..them guys think that i can sing... I SOOOO CAN'T!! But they did make out like i was good and in tune compared to the opposing team!! haha! Go team Gabz n vincent!! xD

My home gurls sec chan n linda showed up in the end..and the plan was to go thai sq later on..but i sooooo did not want to go!! and awesomely..so didn't sec chan :D so we dropped everyone at the club and we had our own lil ghetto party jammin in Trafalgar sq wid a bottle of rose, phone music and a box of 20 Mcnuggets to share hahahahhaa!!! It was awesome!! and soon enough...vincent, linda, greg and jay joined us :D

I didnt take any pics that night so heres a pic of me and my hing dai Gabz who turned 25 couple of days ago!! :) We were at one of Chi nights special foam parties..hence why i'm soaked!! xD

This is the last of my whole birthday thing and its taken me friggin ages to get all the pics and finally blog about it... from the start of this blog, all i've wanted to do was to write down how i feel and what i did so that i would never forget..i didnt even wanna leave any details out!! this week had been so amazing!!

The Club.. it was LEGEND-w8 4 it...DARY!!

I really do feel like i've grown out of clubbing...but its not to say i wouldn't enjoy it..with the right company...u cud b in the shittiest club but still have an awesome night!! and my this instance...it was all about the company!!

My bestie jessy drove us to holborn..met up a few of the other girls and got some liqueur down me at wethaspoons just b4 12 midnight and on the dot got me doin shots :s Gosh there was no way i was gna get drunk today!! no way!!!! We headed to the club Bar 101..it wasn't over glam, it was too expensive, entry was cheap, music was good, company was awesome.. i really had a ridculious amount of fun that night!!

I got home around 5ish am and got up for 11.30am to go church... :) and it jus got better and better :)

Update on the rest of my bday

Sorry its been so long since i been bloggin on time!! i keep meaning to blog there n then but its annoying with my phones!! if i use me bb, it takes ages locating to pic i wanna attach.and if i use my iphone, only the photos send and not my writing :s so annoyin, thats whats put me off phone bloggin :s  anyways..just thought i'd add to why this was the best birthday i've ever had..

I was gonna go to a club with a couple of close friends...nuffin big or fancy or full of ppl who knew me..jus a handful of chica who know how to party n have fun without all the drama...people i knew i would have fun with... Did u know the best part of going out is the getting ready for it part with the girls? its awesome..we had so much fun at mines..well i know my rooms a mess but hey...its my last night of being 22 there!! :p

This cake had cellophane on it and it took 3 people and 5mins to work out.

how to take it off!! LOL!!! everyone wanted a bite of my green tea mousse cake...4 girls and 1 cake..like i said b4..epic!!

Dinner wid mah bestie Jessy

So for my birthday..there was only really one thing that i actually wanted to do and had to plan in advanced..and that was to have dinner with my best friend... There is just so many times i planned things for bdays in the past and this yr, i just didnt want all the fuss and drama.. and if i ust got a simple dinner date with jessy, that would feel enough of a perfect bday as it is :)

We went to the grand union in brixton...stunning pub/restaurant!!

Felt kinda special coz out table had a gorgeous fireplace right in front of it!!

And we had a cocktail each...both of us drove so we didn't wanna intoxicate ourselves :p

We had these amazing burgers!! i got the Mozarella and pesto burger and jess got some spicey fire burger... they were huge!! and yep..we couldn't finish them "sigh" lol!!

Overall...it was soo lovely to spend the evening with her...we caught up on everything and had alot laughs...i actually don't believe in bestfriends forever uno...but if there had to be anything close to it..it would be her... love u jess xxx

Lobster wid my MUMAAAAAA!!

It is totally random.. 1 day last week..my mom says to me she wanna take me out for a meal for my birthday..just so she feels shes dont her part towzrds my day of birth coming..but the thing is... I actually have NEVER gone out randomly with my mom to eat dinner..just me and her..so weird but it was awesome!! It was her treat as a birthday gift to me instead of cooking me up a meal this yr lol!

It wasn't anything fancy... i do like lobster and the only way i like is is stir fried in ginger and spring onions over a bed of soft noodles... it was niceee but as usuall..couldn't finish it..my mom ate most of it :D

and we got some side dim sum aswell... as usuall... we boxed that up n took it home... we never learn...always order too much food!!! xD

Happy new year guys!

Xmas season foods..

Here are jus a few snaps of the kinda foods i had around christmas that i didnt find time to upload..

Went for a 3 course fine dining dinner with my family and without even ordering any dessert..i got given this chocolate yule log..im so glad i did try it tho..it was so amazing!!

The is chinese hot pot... all the raw foods are places around a steel bowl of broth and whatever you want to eat..you put into the broth for a few minutes and then fish it out and eat it.. it's usually mainly seafood and fresh leafy greens and shitaki mushrooms...we had like silken tofu,seasoned tofu, different flavoured fish balls, squid, king prawns, vietnamese nom salad..

This is thinly sliced rolls of beef..same thing, u dip it into the broth to cook it abit and then eat it straight away...it was so tender and yummy.. ay.. food glorious food huh?!!

Christmas with the princess

This christmas was cute...it all revolved around one person...one lil person... princess Renee :)

Christmas eve lunch!!

I forgot my headphones today..which sucked coz I'm so used to having 
my music playin whiles the city around me bussles with energy!! But it 
was ok..gave me a chance to really soak up the atmosphere of Christmas 
eve!! I was at Camden today, a place that's always electric with 
people n it was even more so today!! It was actually nice be out on a 
London Xmas eve!! :)

I got to have Christmas lunch with the staff today!! And I was 
soooooooo shocked that they prepared such a big meal for everyone!! 
The turkey looked good!! They had all the trimmings-risotto, mash, 
sweet potato mash (that was awesome!) all the veg and fresh creamy 
gravy n cranberry sauce!! They even had nut loaf for the vegans and an 
amazing apple pie for dessert!! As u can imagine..I was fed well!! :D 
and u wonder why I say I love work!! Lol :p

On my way home I soaked in the propa Christmas spirit.. Brixton was 
buzzing!! Hundreds f people doing their last min shopping..we had 
Christmas steel pans drumming music like we should be in the 
carribbean! Carol singers and guys dressed up in furry animal suits to 
raise money for charities!! It was just a beautiful russling n 
bussling Christmas energy on my way home..it's very nice to feel the 
positive energy in everyone today!!

Everyone still put up their trees this yr?

here's mines that I decorated all by myself..yep..no1 wanted to help me, just sat and watched..and really, I don't normally do the decorating..

Soo whatchu think of my tree?!! Bought all the lights and decorations myself..and I dno why, but blue and silver was a theme I pictured instantly..I opted for artifical tree because I am kinda against being part of killing trees..it's the most saddest thing at the end of the year to see 5 or 6 dead Christmas trees at each end of my road..I just think it's horrific!! :( if u want the fresh pine smell, use an oil burner n get a few drops of forest pine essential oil in some water..if anything, it's more fragrant that way!!
